So excited!

I’m not into gardening… at all.  First of all in order to garden you have to go outside.  I don’t have a problem with being outside in theory.  In theory, outside is all warm and bright and sunny, who wouldn’t want to go out and garden?  But in reality, outside is all hot and humid and dirty.  And there are bugs; I don’t do bugs.  So you can imagine how much I’ve gotten into this whole gardening thing.  Not much.  Plus, I don’t even really like vegetables all that much, so I haven’t been all that motivated.

Yesterday, I loaded Matt and Quinn in the car and we followed Niki, Derrick, and Sarah to a couple greenhouses.  Aside from the fact that the it was really hot and humid in there, it was pretty neat.  I enjoyed looking at all the different flowers and the different types of seeds they had available.  Matt and Derrick picked out some grapes and berries to put in the garden and that excited me because I LIKE fruit.

But the really exciting thing is….

I bought a banana tree!  I’m totally excited.  The guy that sold it to us said it would probably grow to be around 3-4 feet tall and that in its second year would produce edible red bananas.  It can stay outside throughout the spring, summer, and fall, but in the winter we can bring it in and cut it off at the stalk.  It will stay like that all winter long and in the spring the leaves will spiral out from the stalk.  It is the coolest tree I’ve ever seen.  I’ll have to take some pictures of my new “baby”.  ;)
