I Completely Agree!

In response to Elle’s post, I have to completely agree. When Derrick and Matt started talking about having this massive garden that was going to take up my entire back yard, I just nodded my head and said sure. Knowing my husband as I do, and after seeing last year’s garden, I knew it wasn’t going to happen. Last year we had a small garden with tomatoes, broccoli, and some herbs. This year they were talking about way more than that. Well, after talking about it for months, and hearing my husband talk ONLY about the garden, I realized this was something he wanted to do, and he really wanted Matt to help him. Derrick is a bit of a dreamer as well, so you can only imagine. He drew up plans, started reading everything he could on different plants, and really started to drive me crazy!

I will be the first to admit, I am so proud of what the boys have accomplished in such a small time. I know that Elle and Matt hate being at our house every night, but I enjoy it. They have become our best friends in such a small period of time, and like Elle, I thought maybe this garden would ruin that. I really hope they don’t get too tired of us after all this is said and done!

Wow!

Believe it or not we here at the CFP have plants in the ground.  With three weeks to go until last frost even.  I know, crazy huh?  We have broccoli, asparagus, cauliflower, brussel sprouts, and spinach even.  There is garlic and shallots and onions.  We have carrot, radish, and pea seeds planted and waiting for sprouts.  Rhubarb planted by the garage.   More salad greens to shake a stick at (please don’t or I might have to hurt you).  The water barrel is situated under the guttering.  Things are starting to come together. I’ve been meaning to write this for awhile…

When my husband, Matt, first brought up the idea of planting a garden in Niki and Derrick’s yard my response was something along the lines of, “yeah, ok honey.”  I didn’t give it much thought.Though he wouldn’t admit it, Matt is a dreamer.  He is always coming up with great plans and schemes.  Typically, these plans never see reality.  I thought this garden was yet another one of these plans and I didn’t pay it much attention.  The topic of the garden kept coming up though and I started to get a bit nervous.  Niki and Derrick, for the most part, make up our entire social calendar.  They put up with our scatterbrained ways and most importantly our baby girl, Quinn.  (more…)
